Southern Nigeria Youth Congress (SNYC), Ekiti State chapter, faces leadership crisis after discrediting alleged suspension letter against chairman Amb. Ezekiel Ibikunle Jasper, labeling it a forgery orchestrated by expelled member..
In a communique issued after an emergency meeting on Saturday, February 1, 2025, the executives reaffirmed their confidence in Amb. Jasper’s leadership while announcing the expulsion of the former Secretary General, Adeleke Ayomiotan Adebusuyi, over eight counts of misconduct.
The SNYC state executives dismissed claims that Amb. Jasper defied directives from the National Executive Council (NEC), asserting that the allegations were “single-handedly framed, unsigned, and forged” by Adebusuyi.
“We categorically disclaim and disassociate ourselves from the purported suspension letter. A vote of confidence has been passed on Amb. Jasper as the substantive chairman,” the statement read.
The motion was moved by Amb. Alaba Ayodele John, State Financial Secretary, and seconded by Comr. Ogundipe Temitope Aristotle.
As part of the resolutions, the congress announced the expulsion of Adeleke Ayomiotan Adebusuyi, citing gross misconduct.
His position will be filled by Hon. Mrs. Oladipo Ololade Adenike, who is set to be sworn in as Ekiti’s National Executive Representative at the SNYC National Executive Council (NEC).
Additionally, the Deputy State Chairman was suspended on three counts of allegations and directed to face a disciplinary panel with an apology letter.
Meanwhile, Hon. Akinsola Ojo David has been nominated as the interim State Secretary pending Jasper’s return from leave on February 12, 2025.
The executives urged the President General of SNYC and the Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development to halt plans for a fresh election, warning that it could escalate the crisis.
“The State Chairman will resume on February 12 to address these resolutions. However, if the matter remains unresolved, we will seek legal redress to protect the integrity of SNYC Ekiti,” the statement concluded.
