Two police officers have been k!ll£d by suspected armed robbers at Kolere Police Out-Post in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to reports, the attack occurred on Sunday, February 9, 2025, when the officer in charge of the out-post, DSP Jantuku Philibus, led an operation to arrest a suspect.
However, the suspect and his gang reportedly ambushed the officer, k!ll!ng him.
Sources revealed that before he was overpowered, DSP Philibus managed to kill one of the attackers but later succumbed to his injuries.
This incident follows a similar attack in late January 2025, when DSP Ali Pindar, also attached to the Kolere Police Out-Post, was killed.
Reports indicate that Pindar had arrested a notorious gang leader in the community and transferred him to the Damagum Divisional Police Headquarters in Fune LGA. After securing bail, the suspect allegedly mobilized his gang to attack the police out-post, k!ll!ng DSP Pindar and injuring an inspector.
Confirming the latest attack, the Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, stated that the officers were overwhelmed by the assailants during the arrest attempt.
Security authorities have launched an investigation into the incidents, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend the culprits behind the k!ll!ngs.
