Renowned fashion and beauty entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani, has issued a strong warning to expectant mothers about the potential long-term effects of epidural anesthesia, which is commonly used during childbirth to relieve pain.

In a video shared online, the mother of three recounted her personal experience, stating that since taking the injection, she has suffered severe back pain and spine degeneration.

According to her, doctors often inform women about the immediate side effects but do not fully disclose the long-term health risks associated with epidurals.

“When you hear epidural, run,” she cautioned. “Doctors tell you about the side effects but do not explain the long-term impact on your body. I have friends experiencing the same issues—I’m just 42, yet I have a degenerating spine. I have implants in my spine, and at times, I go paralyzed. I can’t stand for long, and sometimes, I even struggle to breathe.”

Lawani revealed that while she had a natural birth with her first child, she received epidurals during the delivery of her last two children.

She explained that her last epidural was necessary due to surgery but lamented that the pain has persisted.

“The pain doesn’t stop. My back is killing me, and my spine is degenerating,” she added, urging women to carefully consider the risks before opting for the procedure.
