A shocking altercation unfolded at Itesiwaju Orile Iloye CDA in Sango Ward, as an APC leader and the CDA Chairman engaged in a physical fight, allegedly involving thugs in the heart of the community.
The dispute, which quickly escalated into a public spectacle, stemmed from a lingering controversy over a newly acquired transformer.
In December 2024, the CDA executives reportedly mandated each household to contribute ₦38,000 for the purchase of a new transformer after the previous one failed.
The community initially welcomed the development, enjoying an uninterrupted power supply during the festive season.
However, by early January, the new transformer developed a fault. Despite several attempts to resolve the issue, the CDA executives failed to find a solution or communicate effectively with residents.
Investigations later revealed that some streets under the CDA had been illegally tapping electricity from neighboring areas, leading to the transformer’s malfunction.
Tensions reached a boiling point when the APC leader and his wife allegedly assaulted the CDA Chairman, triggering chaos that quickly spiraled into a full-blown riot.
The incident has left residents in shock, raising concerns over leadership and accountability within the community.
Authorities are yet to comment on the matter, but residents are demanding transparency and a lasting solution to the power crisis. More updates will follow as the situation unfolds.
