Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to Nigerians urging him to contact Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, rather than publicly criticizing Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Abba, over the escalating political crisis in the state.

Davido had earlier taken to social media to call out the police commissioner for his handling of the situation, which stems from the ongoing political standoff between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The crisis was triggered by attempts from sacked APC local government chairmen to reclaim their positions despite court rulings removing them from office.

The situation reached a boiling point on Monday, February 17, 2025, as gunfire erupted across multiple local government secretariats when dismissed chairmen and their supporters clashed with PDP members resisting their return to office.

Amid the tension, Davido took to X to call out CP Mohammed Abba, sharing videos of locals standing their ground against the attempted takeover and captioning it “Men Mount.”

However, some Nigerians questioned why Davido did not use his personal connection with Seyi Tinubu to resolve the matter privately rather than confronting the police publicly.

In response, Davido clarified that while he and Seyi Tinubu are friends, their relationship does not extend to political influence.

He stated, “He is my friend and nothing more. Just as his father is the democratically elected President, my uncle is the democratically elected Governor.”

The crisis continues to generate nationwide attention, with many calling for a peaceful resolution to prevent further violence in Osun State.
