Arsenal have been fined £65,000 by the Football Association (FA) after failing to control their players during their Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on January 25.
The charge stemmed from an incident in the 43rd minute when Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Matt Doherty.
Following the decision, several Arsenal players surrounded referee Michael Oliver in protest. Despite their appeals, the decision was upheld by VAR official Darren England.
The FA confirmed the fine, stating: “An independent Regulatory Commission has imposed a £65,000 fine on Arsenal for failing to ensure their players did not behave in an improper manner.” Arsenal admitted to the charge.
However, Arsenal successfully appealed the red card, leading to its overturn and the cancellation of Lewis-Skelly’s three-match suspension.
In their defense, the club argued that their players did not act aggressively or disrespectfully toward the referee but were merely seeking clarification on the decision.
