The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Solomon Fabiyi, for allegedly attempting to use his young nephew, Jomiloju, for a money ritual. Fabiyi was apprehended on February 14, 2025, by a team of police officers in the state.

During interrogation, the suspect, who hails from Kwara State but was born and raised in Ekiti, admitted to seeking the services of a native doctor for financial prosperity.

According to him, the native doctor advised that a human sacrifice was required but assured him that the chosen individual would not die, only suffer from a lifelong ailment.

Fabiyi claimed he selected his nephew with the intention of providing him with education and a “good life” despite the health consequences of the ritual, while he benefitted financially.

He also revealed that he lived with Jomiloju’s mother and played a role in caring for the child.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu, stated that the suspect confessed to the crime and has been charged in court.

The case has raised concerns about ritual-related crimes, a recurring issue in some parts of the country. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
