The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a farmer, Alfa Mustapha, whose lifeless body was discovered on his farm in Ageri Village, near Olodo, Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that Mustapha’s corpse was found lying face-up with his cutlass beside him.

She explained that the 50-year-old farmer had left for his farm on Saturday morning but failed to return home, prompting concern among residents.

“Worried about his whereabouts, the Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha, went to the farm around 6:02 p.m. and found him dead,” Odutola stated.

The matter was reported at the Police Outstation in Olodo at about 6:30 p.m., leading officers to visit the scene for an initial assessment.

The body was subsequently taken to the General Hospital in Odeda for further examination.

Although early observations did not indicate any signs of violence, likely due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility, a medical assessment later revealed bullet wounds from pellets, confirming that Mustapha was shot at close range.

Following this discovery, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, ordered an intensive investigation to track down the perpetrator(s).

Odutola urged members of the public with relevant information to assist the police, assuring that the command would spare no effort in ensuring justice is served.
