Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has made fresh allegations against his successor, Governor Uba Sani, and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, claiming their actions indirectly empower bandits operating in the state.
El-Rufai’s remarks came in response to a social media post by X user @realYusufTukur, who lamented the recent abduction of over 30 individuals in Kaduna. The user suggested that such incidents no longer attract widespread attention because El-Rufai is no longer in power.
He specifically referenced a recent attack in Kagarko Local Government Area, where a nursing mother, Wakilin Fulani of Janjala, Alhaji Atah Adamu Wakili, and 37 other residents were kidnapped.
Sharing the post, El-Rufai alleged that ransom payments are being made to secure victims’ early release, only for the NSA to later present them to the state government in a “colorful ceremony.”
He argued that such practices embolden criminal elements by providing them with financial resources to acquire more sophisticated weapons, thereby worsening insecurity in the state.
“The terrorists, thus further financially empowered, will purchase even more sophisticated weapons and abduct even more people in Kaduna and elsewhere.
That is the new ‘modus operandi’ of the geniuses in charge of our state these days,” El-Rufai stated.
