Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has called for continued global attention on his country’s struggle, emphasizing that Ukraine’s plight must not fade into obscurity.
In a social media post on Saturday, Zelenskiy shared footage from a meeting with the Ukrainian community in Washington, just a day after a tense White House encounter with U.S. President Donald Trump.
“It is very important for us that Ukraine is heard and that no one forgets about it, neither during the war nor after,” Zelenskiy stated. “It is important for people in Ukraine to know that they are not alone, that their interests are represented in every country, in every corner of the world.”
His visit to Washington had been seen as a crucial opportunity to secure further U.S. backing for Ukraine’s defense against Russia.
However, Friday’s Oval Office meeting with Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance reportedly turned contentious, exposing deepening tensions between Kyiv and its most critical wartime ally.
While details of the closed-door discussions remain scarce, sources suggest that the meeting highlighted disagreements over continued military aid and strategic priorities. This latest episode raises concerns about the future of U.S. support for Ukraine as the war grinds on.
Despite the diplomatic friction, Zelenskiy remains resolute in seeking international backing, stressing that Ukraine’s security is vital not just for his country, but for global stability.
