The Kano State Government has inaugurated a six-member committee to implement the recommendations of the inquiry committee on the #EndBadGovernance protests that led to violent clashes in the state.
Governor Abba Yusuf, who inaugurated the committee on Tuesday, described the violence as a painful experience that resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property worth billions of naira.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring such incidents do not recur, pledging efforts to rebuild the economy and alleviate the hardships caused by the crisis.
The committee is expected to thoroughly review the findings of the inquiry panel and make further recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
Governor Yusuf expressed confidence in the committee members, highlighting their expertise and the crucial role they will play in addressing the crisis effectively.
The committee is chaired by Dan Yahaya, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services.
Other members include Aliyu Garo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Hadi Bala, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education; and Salisu Marmara from the Ministry of Justice. Yahaya Umar
Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at the Kano State Pension Fund Trustee, will serve as secretary, while Jamilu Usman, Assistant Secretary II of the REPA Directorate in the Secretary to the State Government’s Office, will serve as assistant secretary.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Mr. Yahaya expressed gratitude to the state government for entrusting them with the responsibility. He assured that the committee would work diligently to justify the confidence placed in them.
