- Denies Receiving Assembly’s 48-Hour Budget Resolution
The Rivers State Government has officially recognized Martin Amaewhule as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, marking a significant turn in the political crisis rocking the state.
In a letter addressed to the Assembly, Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration acknowledged Amaewhule’s leadership, despite months of contention over the legitimacy of the House’s factions.
Amaewhule is a known ally of former Governor Nyesom Wike, who now serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Additionally, the government denied receiving any formal resolutions from the Assembly directing the governor to present the 2025 budget within 48 hours.
