Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has downplayed the significance of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), stating that the former Kaduna governor no longer holds political relevance.

El-Rufai recently announced his departure from the APC, citing the SDP as a more suitable platform for his future political engagements.

Sani dismissed the move as inconsequential, attributing it to fear of the unknown.

“El-Rufai’s defection is of no consequence. He no longer wields any political influence,” Sani remarked.

El-Rufai’s exit from the APC comes amid a wave of political realignments in Kaduna State.

Notably, Shehu Sani, alongside other key figures such as Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, Senator Danjuma Laah, and former Governor Ramalan Yero, recently rejoined the APC.
