Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Murder of Wife in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 42-year-old man, Victor Okoh, for the alleged murder of his wife, Victoria Okoh, aged 38, in Oron Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement released on Monday in Uyo, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended in the early hours of the day after a distress call was received from concerned residents in the neighborhood.

According to the police, officers arrived at the scene around 5:20 a.m. and found the lifeless body of the woman, bearing severe machete wounds, outside the couple’s residence.

The suspect, who had attempted to evade arrest by hiding in the ceiling, was eventually located and taken into custody.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity,” the statement said.

DSP John further revealed that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary in the General Hospital, Oron, for autopsy, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.

She reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served and urged residents to report any suspicious activity promptly.
