VDM Criticizes Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Decision to Report Nigerian Senate to the UN
Social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has criticized suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for taking her case against the Nigerian Senate and Senate President Godswill Akpabio to the United Nations.
In a viral video, VDM described Natasha’s move as misguided, arguing that the UN lacks the jurisdiction to interfere in Nigeria’s legislative affairs.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been at the center of controversy since her suspension from the Senate.
The suspension came shortly after she submitted a petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual assault and other misconduct—allegations Akpabio has denied.
On Tuesday, March 11, during the Women in Parliament session at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Meeting at the United Nations in New York, Natasha called for justice, describing her suspension as illegal.
She urged global democratic institutions to intervene in what she termed an attack on democracy and women’s representation in politics.
Reacting to the development, VDM acknowledged Natasha’s courage in speaking up but insisted that she was “chasing shadows.”
He argued that the UN does not have the authority to interfere in Nigeria’s internal legislative matters and that reporting to them was a miscalculated step.
“The UN you went to report to cannot do anything,” VDM stated in his video.
He added that Natasha’s decision reflected poor advice from her inner circle, emphasizing that she needed better legal and political strategists to fight her battle effectively.
Rather than appealing to international organizations with limited power over Nigeria’s legislative processes, VDM suggested that Natasha assemble a strong legal team and use political strategies to seek justice.
“@natashaakpoti, you are making a lot of mistakes and taking wrong moves. Reporting the matter to the United Nations shows that you have the wrong advisers. Sadly, PLAY THE GAME,” VDM wrote in the caption of his video.
