The Kremlin has confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump are expected to hold a phone conversation on Tuesday, March 18, as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Trump initially revealed the planned call while speaking to reporters, noting that “a lot of work” has been undertaken between the U.S. and Russia toward resolving the war.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov later corroborated the development, stating, “That is indeed the case. There is such a conversation being prepared for Tuesday.” However, he declined to elaborate on the specific agenda for the discussion.

The call follows a recent visit to Moscow by Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, who presented the outlines of a proposed U.S.-Ukrainian ceasefire plan. The proposal reportedly includes a 30-day suspension of hostilities aimed at creating space for broader negotiations.

President Putin has reportedly shown interest in the proposal but expressed concerns about certain implementation details, which he intends to raise during the conversation with Trump.
