The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially confirmed that corps members across the country will begin receiving an increased monthly allowance of ₦77,000 starting from March 2025.

The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, gave the assurance during an interactive session held on Thursday with corps members at the Wuse and Garki Zonal Offices in Abuja.

Addressing concerns over the delay in the implementation of the new allowance, Brigadier General Nafiu reaffirmed the commitment of the NYSC and the Federal Government to the welfare of corps members.

“With effect from March, you will receive Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira as your monthly allowance. NYSC is efficient in record-keeping, and I assure you that your payments will be made. The nation and the Scheme appreciate you,” he stated.

The Director General urged corps members to remain focused on their service and be patient as the new payment structure takes effect.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the youth corps to nation-building, emphasizing the NYSC’s role in fostering national unity and promoting values such as patriotism, discipline, and teamwork.

Brigadier General Nafiu also praised the foresight of the founding fathers of the NYSC and called on all stakeholders to continue supporting the scheme for sustained impact.

Speaking on behalf of corps members in the Garki Zone, Zaka Deborah Alheri, with call number FC/24A/5831, expressed appreciation to the Director General for his efforts and commitment toward improving corps members’ welfare.
