A 37-year-old woman, Linda Stephen, has petitioned a Kaduna Customary Court to dissolve her marriage, citing her husband’s excessive sexual demands and alleged physical abuse.
Appearing before the court, Linda, a resident of Ungwan Sunday, claimed that her husband, Felix Stephen, subjects her to unbearable sexual encounters that last from midnight till dawn, often ignoring her distress.
“I urge the court to dissolve this marriage because I can’t endure his excessive sexual demands. Even when I cry, he refuses to stop,” she stated.
She further revealed that she had moved out of their home three months ago due to the unbearable conditions. Despite pleas from Felix’s relatives for her to return, she insisted that they were unaware of her suffering.
Beyond his sexual demands, Linda accused her husband of resorting to violence whenever she refused his advances, alleging that he had beaten her in the presence of their two children.
In response, Felix admitted to his actions but pleaded with the court to save their marriage, expressing his willingness to change.
“I took my uncles and friends to her parents’ house to beg her, but she refused to listen. She walked out on us,” he lamented, pleading for more time to reconcile with his wife.
Presiding Judge John Dauda adjourned the case until May 6, allowing time for reconciliation while urging both parties to maintain peace.
