Sanwo-Olu Didn’t Fund My 2023 Campaign – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed claims that he received financial support from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his 2023 presidential election campaign.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Atiku Media Office in Abuja, Abubakar’s Media Aide, Paul Ibe, described the allegations as false and politically motivated.

According to Ibe, the reports suggesting that Sanwo-Olu provided funds purportedly belonging to Lagos State for Abubakar’s campaign are entirely baseless.

He further criticized the claims as “kindergarten propaganda” and a “campaign of calumny” aimed at tarnishing the former vice president’s reputation.

Ibe also responded to reports linking the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to an investigation into the alleged transaction, urging the anti-graft agency to publicly disclose its findings.

He emphasized that Atiku had no personal or financial dealings with Sanwo-Olu, questioning the logic behind the claim.

“How is it possible for an Atiku that did not know and had no connection with Sanwo-Olu to be involved in a financial transaction with him – let alone during the 2023 presidential election in which his boss was a contestant?” Ibe stated.

He called for an end to what he described as a politically motivated smear campaign, urging the public to disregard the unfounded reports.
