The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has declared the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) “dead,” claiming that its presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is already considering a return to the APC.
Ganduje made the statement in Abuja on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) to the APC national headquarters.
“The NNPP is dead, and the burial is near. The coffin is ready, and the grave is being dug,” Ganduje said.
According to him, despite Kwankwaso’s role as the face of the NNPP, the former Kano governor is making moves to reunite with the APC. “We will welcome him back. He’s coming home,” Ganduje added.
But Kwankwaso and the NNPP have denied the defection claims.
During a recent NNPP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, Kwankwaso insisted it was Ganduje who might consider joining the NNPP, not the reverse.
