Remo Stars have been crowned champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.

Olamilekan Adedayo netted the crucial winner six minutes from time at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, ensuring the club’s maiden league triumph.

With the victory, Remo Stars became the first privately owned team to lift the NPFL title since Udoji United’s achievement in 1996.

It also marks the first time in 20 years that a club from the South West will claim the league crown, following the now-defunct Julius Berger’s success.

Daniel Ogunmodede’s side currently lead the standings with 68 points from 35 matches, while second-placed Rivers United trail with 58 points.
