The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), has confirmed the recovery of three government-owned vehicles from the premises of the suspended Deputy Governor, Dr. Ngozi Odu.
According to a statement released by his Senior Special Adviser on Media, Hector Igbikiowubo, the recovered items include two Toyota Hilux vans and one Toyota Hiace bus.
The operation, which was carried out earlier this week, was described as a “routine administrative measure” aimed at safeguarding state property.
Ibas maintained that the retrieval was lawful and not politically motivated, dismissing allegations that it reflected a misuse of executive powers.
“We question the motives of those politicising this matter,” the statement read. “What legitimate purpose did these vehicles serve in the suspended deputy governor’s premises more than a month after the declaration of a state of emergency?”
He urged members of the public to disregard what he called “sensationalised accounts” of the incident, stating that the administration remains committed to restoring order and ensuring accountability in government.
The statement further warned against actions that might provoke instability, emphasizing that the government has exercised “remarkable patience” despite repeated provocations.
This development follows weeks of political tension in the state after the declaration of a state of emergency, which led to the suspension of several key officials, including Dr. Odu.
