Arsenal midfielder Jorginho is on the verge of sealing a move to Brazilian giants Flamengo, with negotiations said to be in advanced stages.

The 33-year-old could be making a return to his country of birth, nearly two decades after leaving Brazil.

Flamengo initially expressed interest in the Italy international back in December and have remained keen on securing his services. Sources close to the club indicate that a deal on a free transfer is now close to completion.

Jorginho, who has been sidelined recently after suffering a punctured lung in a match against Brentford, is reportedly recovering well.

Despite the injury setback, the midfielder has had a fairly active season, featuring in 26 matches across all competitions and scoring once for the Gunners.

Born in Brazil, Jorginho moved to Italy as a teenager and has since made 57 appearances for the Italian national team.

He joined Arsenal from Chelsea in 2023 for £12 million and has accumulated a total of 78 appearances for the North London side.
