Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has received public commendation from her colleague, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, for displaying emotional maturity and family values by including her ex-husband in their daughter Priscilla’s wedding.
Speaking during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, Ronke praised Iyabo for her hands-on parenting and for maintaining a cordial relationship with her children’s father, particularly during such an important family event.
“I give kudos to Iyabo Ojo. When Priscilla and her brother were young, she was always going everywhere with them. She is a devoted mother. I now respect her more when I saw Priscilla’s dad at the wedding. I also learnt a lesson from her,” Ronke said.
The comments come amid public scrutiny directed at gospel singer Tope Alabi, whose ex-husband was noticeably absent from her daughter’s wedding.
Social media users had criticized Alabi, suggesting she intentionally excluded him from the ceremony.
However, Ronke urged caution and understanding, offering a different angle.
“Don’t let us blame Tope Alabi. The girl is 27 years old. Maybe she was the one that didn’t want to see her dad. If she really wanted him there, she would have insisted,” she explained.
She concluded by stressing the need to avoid blanket judgments, noting that each family has its own unique circumstances.
“Let’s be more understanding. Not every situation is the same,” Ro Sonke added.
