Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the disbursement of over ₦1 billion for the payment of gratuities and death benefits to retirees and families of deceased civil servants in the state.
The approval was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Rashidu Muhammad Bala on behalf of the Head of Service, Malami Shekare, and made available to the press in Birnin Kebbi.
According to the statement, the fund targets state and contract staff, local government employees, and personnel under the Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) who either retired or passed away while in active service between September 16 and December 15, 2024.
A total of 459 beneficiaries have been listed to receive payments under this intervention.
“This initiative is a testament to Governor Idris’ commitment to the welfare of workers, especially retirees and the families of those who died in service,” the statement noted.
“The funds will help ease financial burdens and serve as recognition of the service rendered by these individuals.”
The Head of Service emphasized that the disbursement aligns with the administration’s pledge to honour the contributions of public servants and ensure timely payment of entitlements.
This development adds to a series of welfare-driven policies rolled out by the Idris-led administration to enhance the well-being of the state’s workforce and their dependents.
