Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 is non-negotiable.
Speaking during a visit by members of the South-South Monarchs’ Forum at the Government House in Benin, Okpebholo urged traditional rulers to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
He said the President’s leadership has brought positive changes to the country.
According to the governor, traditional institutions have an important role to play in national development, especially in maintaining peace and supporting government efforts to tackle insecurity.
“The development of our nation cannot be achieved without the active support of our royal fathers,” he said.
He praised Tinubu’s economic policies, noting that they are designed to improve the lives of Nigerians and put the nation on the path of growth.
Okpebholo also emphasized the need for unity in the South-South, pointing out that the region should support one of its own in the 2027 election.
“The President is focused on blocking leakages in the economy and ensuring resources are used wisely. States now receive higher allocations and can invest more in development,” he said.
The governor concluded by saying that Tinubu’s second term is essential to continue the progress already made.
