A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has attributed the continued high cost of food items in Nigerian markets to what he described as “greed and wickedness” among traders.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Igbokwe, a vocal supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, argued that despite statistical evidence showing a decline in the cost of food and commodities, market prices remain high due to the actions of traders.

According to him, the unwillingness of traders to reflect the declining trend in their pricing is hurting ordinary Nigerians.

“Prices of food and commodities are coming down but Nigerians will not help Nigerians,” he wrote.

“Our greed, our wickedness, and avaricious tendencies have no part two. We are our worst enemies. Nigerians steal what they do not need.
