Manchester United legend Roy Keane has criticized Rasmus Hojlund, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho following the club’s 1-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea on Friday night.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Keane questioned the quality and consistency of the trio, suggesting they are not players the club should prioritize keeping during the summer transfer window.
“They have got no striker,” Keane said. “Hojlund looked like a young kid for Chelsea, he looked like he had come straight out of the academy.”
When asked if Manchester United should be building around the three young talents, Keane was blunt in his response.
“No. No, I wouldn’t. I would not be hanging my hat on them three to get United anywhere.”
The former club captain didn’t hold back in his assessment of each player.
He accused Mainoo of being careless in possession and not showing enough urgency after coming off the bench.
“He is strolling around, some of his passing was sloppy,” Keane remarked.
As for Garnacho, Keane labeled the winger “immature,” stating that he plays in “little moments” but lacks the consistency required to perform at the top level.
“You want players to turn up week in and week out and he doesn’t do that,” he added.
