The Federal Government has announced its intention to sell 753 residential properties seized from former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
The move is part of a broader effort to ensure accountability and deliver on President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing, Badamasi Haiba, the properties—located within an estate—will be allocated to Nigerians in the low and middle-income brackets.
He emphasized that the government aims to make housing more accessible for ordinary citizens.
In an interview with The Punch, Haiba disclosed that although the estate is still under construction, the ministry has begun steps to assess the buildings before rolling out the sale process.
“We will begin by profiling the houses to determine how best they can be sold to Nigerians,” he said.
Haiba added that the Ministry of Housing is committed to promoting homeownership across all segments of society, particularly for those often left out of such opportunities.
“Our goal is inclusive housing. We are looking at flexible payment options that will allow deserving Nigerians—especially low and middle-income earners—to benefit from this initiative,”he stated.
