A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for approving the sealing of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja over unpaid ground rent.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, George described the action as “sacrilegious and culturally inadmissible,” adding that Wike’s move amounted to disrespecting the very political platform that shaped his career.

“This is the party that brought you to life,” George said, pointing out that Wike had risen through the political ranks—from local government chairman to minister and two-term governor—on the PDP’s platform.

“Would you seal your family house over a N7 million debt if you were the chairman of the local government?” he asked.

The PDP secretariat was temporarily sealed earlier in the week by FCT authorities over alleged non-payment of N7 million in ground rent.

The action has drawn criticism from within the party, with many describing it as politically insensitive.

George argued that Wike, rather than resorting to public embarrassment, could have quietly resolved the issue out of loyalty and respect for the party.

“If it were your father’s house, would you have done the same? It’s not just political—it’s moral,” he added.

The development comes amid growing tensions within the PDP, particularly between Wike and some of the party’s top figures.

The FCT minister has maintained a controversial stance in recent times, especially following his fallout with the party leadership during the 2023 general elections.
