Nigerian actor, skit maker, and activist, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has pushed back strongly against criticisms from some supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over his stance on celebrities visiting political leaders.

Taking to his verified X account, Mr Macaroni declared that he has never condemned any celebrity for associating with politicians and warned against being held up as a moral standard.

“I have said this times without number! I am nobody’s Hero!! I am not a saint!!! Na all of us get our own for body!” he wrote in a tweet that has since stirred widespread reactions.

The comedian, known for his outspoken activism and criticism of government policies, said his refusal to attend political events is a personal choice, not a moral crusade.

According to him, it is unfair for anyone to weaponize his views against other entertainers.

“Because I don’t associate with politicians doesn’t mean others who do are wrong. It’s a matter of preference,” he explained.

He went further to accuse what he called “APC rascals” of consistently twisting his statements in order to attack others or create false narratives.

He made it clear that, although he has received several invitations from different levels of government, he has declined them all.

“Invitations choke on different levels!!! But I promise, you will continue to cry, weep and gnash your teeth because all will be continuously declined,” he tweeted defiantly.

Mr Macaroni also took time to praise chess master and youth advocate Tunde Onakoya, calling his efforts “tremendously inspiring” and a shining example of building a better Nigeria through personal conviction and impact.

Addressing trolls who continue to mention him in unrelated issues, he said: “Na another person talk am but na me dem go start to dey insult… Awon Osinwin dede!!!”

He ended his remarks by reaffirming his position: “Please again, I am no one’s hero! I am not a saint! I am not the standard… I speak up for what I believe in and not for anyone’s validation.”
