A 40-year-old man, Seun Olakunle, has been remanded in a correctional facility by an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into a private residence and stealing electrical cable valued at ₦3 million.
The presiding magistrate, Chief Magistrate B.A. Sonuga, issued the remand order on Monday following Olakunle’s guilty plea to the charge of stealing.
The court adjourned the case to July 17, 2025, for a formal review of the facts and sentencing.
According to the Prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, the incident occurred on June 19 at around 6 a.m. at No. 5 Aliqoda Street, Oreyo, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
He told the court that the defendant unlawfully entered the premises and stole the electrical cable belonging to one Mr. Olawale Abimbola.
The prosecution noted that the offence contravenes Sections 307(2), 339, and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Following the court’s ruling, Olakunle is to remain in custody at the correctional centre until the next hearing when the court is expected to deliver its final judgment.
