Former Super Eagles captain and Nigerian football legend, Austine Jay-Jay Okocha, has weighed in on the ongoing speculation surrounding the future of striker Victor Osimhen, urging him to make a decision that best serves his personal and family interests.
Osimhen, who currently plays for Italian Serie A side Napoli, is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club ahead of the 2025–26 season.
Despite receiving a big-money offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, the 25-year-old turned it down, leaving room for further speculation over his next move, with top European clubs closely monitoring the situation.
Speaking in an interview with Sport 247, Okocha, who was part of Nigeria’s victorious 1994 Africa Cup of Nations squad, said he believes career decisions should be left entirely to the players.
“The decision should be his,” Okocha stated. “Whether it goes well or not, he must own it. I don’t believe in deciding someone’s future. He should choose what’s best for him and his family.”
