Former Senator representing Zamfara Central, Kabir Garba Marafa, has condemned the recent wave of deadly bandit attacks in parts of Zamfara State, describing the situation as deeply troubling and a tragic reflection of the state’s deteriorating security.

In a condolence statement released by his media aide, Mansur M. Haruna, the former lawmaker expressed grief over the killings of local vigilantes and security operatives in Zauma, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, and parts of Shinkafi LGA.

Marafa extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims, emphasizing that the persistent violence in Zamfara demands urgent and collective response from all arms of government.

“The failure to act collectively on security is costing innocent lives,” he lamented. “Unfortunately, some leaders have chosen to play politics with this crisis.”

Recalling that he had previously warned about the growing threat of banditry in the state, Marafa noted that his concerns were ignored at the time.

He urged government officials, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders to set aside political rivalries and work together to restore lasting peace.

“No meaningful development can happen without securing lives and property,” he added, while calling on residents to remain vigilant and committed to peacebuilding efforts.

Zamfara, in recent years, has been one of the states worst affected by banditry and rural violence, with repeated attacks on communities despite ongoing military operations
