A young boy named after former President Muhammadu Buhari has been awarded a full scholarship following his inspiring speech at the launch of Garba Shehu’s new book in Abuja.

The event, held on July 9, 2025, saw the boy captivate the audience with his presentation titled “Buhari in Us”, where he praised the former president’s character, highlighting values such as honesty, courage, and simplicity.

His performance, marked by confidence and sincerity, drew applause and admiration from dignitaries present.

Moved by the boy’s brilliance, Lawal Garba, Chairman and CEO of Trobell Nigeria, announced a scholarship that will cover the rest of the child’s primary and secondary education  with a promise to sponsor his university education as well.

Garba Shehu, the former presidential spokesman and author of “According to the President: Lessons from a Presidential Spokesman’s Experience,” described the moment as “soul-touching and inspiring.”

He praised the boy’s striking resemblance to the former president, both in mannerisms and delivery.

“This scholarship is not just financial support,” Shehu said in a statement. “It is a recognition of talent and a bold investment in Nigeria’s future.”

Shehu also called on other Nigerians to emulate the kind gesture and support the dreams of gifted children across the country.
