After seven years and 42 rejections, a woman has finally said “yes” to her boyfriend on his 43rd proposal.
Luke Wintrip, a tattoo artist, began proposing to his girlfriend, Sarah, in 2018, just six months into their relationship. But Sarah, a marketing executive, turned him down, saying it was too soon.
“I loved him, but I didn’t want to say yes to something I might regret later,” she said.
Despite the early rejection, Luke didn’t give up. Over the years, he made several creative and romantic attempts to win her heart, including renting a castle in Prague, planning candlelit dinners, and even arranging a horseback ride along a Jamaican beach.
After his 42nd proposal, Sarah told Luke that the next time he asked, she would say yes.
True to her word, during a visit to Greenwich in South East London — a location known as the “center of the world” — Luke proposed once again. This time, Sarah accepted.
“He said, ‘This is the center of the world, and you are the center of mine. I want you to marry me,’” Sarah recalled.
The couple got married in May during a destination wedding in Jamaica.
“He finally won my heart,” Sarah said. “He should probably get a Guinness World Record. I’m grateful he never gave up.”
