The Adamawa State Government has honoured Super Falcons coach, Justine Madugu, with a house and cash gift of N50 million following Nigeria’s recent triumph at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Madugu, who hails from Numan Local Government Area in Adamawa, led the national women’s football team to their 10th WAFCON title, earning praise from both state and national levels.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri hosted Madugu at the Government House in Yola on Friday, where he presented the coach with a three-bedroom bungalow and the monetary reward.

The governor commended Madugu for making the state proud, describing him as a symbol of dedication and excellence in Nigerian sports.

“It is a proud moment for us in Adamawa that one of our own has led Nigeria to victory on the continental stage,” Fintiri said.

“His technical brilliance and focus have brought honor not just to the nation but also to our dear state.”

Fintiri also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sports development and the promotion of local talents across various fields.

In his response, an emotional Madugu expressed gratitude to the governor and the people of Adamawa for the recognition and warm reception.

“I’m overwhelmed by what is happening today,” he said.

“When I took up this role, I saw it as a challenge to prove that northerners, too, can lead at the highest levels. It was a personal mission to leave a legacy that will inspire respect for our state.”

Madugu’s leadership has drawn commendation nationwide, with many viewing his success as a motivation for young coaches and athletes across the country.
