Award-winning Afrobeats singer, Tiwa Savage, has opened up about one of the most difficult periods in her life, describing the 2021 leak of her sex tape and the loss of her father as her lowest moments.
In an interview with British media personality, Zeze Mills, which began trending online on Friday, the “Somebody’s Son” crooner reflected on how the twin tragedies impacted her career and personal life.
“My dad died and my sex tape was released. The only way I could have survived was not to think about it,” she said.
Savage, who had revealed at the time that she was being blackmailed over the tape, explained that she coped by refusing to dwell on the scandal.
She expressed gratitude for still having a platform to share her story years later.
“Being here on the couch with you is such a blessing. Just the fact that you even want to talk to me, people want to hear what I want to say after how many years. It feels good. I’ve gone through so much, but have I really enjoyed the moment?” she added.
