Former co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement, Aisha Yesufu, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu rigged the 2023 election to enjoy the benefits of the presidency rather than to govern.
Yesufu made the claim on Thursday while reacting to comments by former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who criticised Tinubu’s planned trips to Japan and Brazil.
Obi had faulted the president’s decision to embark on the foreign visits despite Nigeria’s pressing challenges, describing the move as “insensitive.
He noted that Tinubu had recently returned from Brazil and questioned the need for another trip to the same country.
“How can anyone explain that a President who came from Brazil recently and met with the President is returning to the same country, leaving the various degrees of challenges at home unresolved?” Obi queried.
Responding via X, Yesufu mocked the president, referring to him as “Agba baller.” She wrote:
“Mr Tinubu did not rig election to govern, he rigged election to enjoy the perks of office. Agba baller.”
Unless there is a last-minute change of plans, Tinubu is expected to depart Nigeria for Japan and Brazil today.
