The National Sports Commission (NSC) has dismissed reports that the Super Falcons are yet to receive their match bonuses, confirming that all payments were made before the team’s final game against Morocco.
NSC Director-General, Bukola Olopade, stated this during an interview on Arise TV on Friday.
“I can confirm authoritatively that all their bonuses have been paid. I spoke with Rasheedat Ajibade yesterday, and I have been in contact with the NFF. Everybody is on the same page,” Olopade said.
He, however, noted that one or two players might still be experiencing payment delays due to banking issues with the Central Bank of Nigeria.
On President Bola Tinubu’s promise of houses and a $100,000 reward for winning the 2024 WAFCON, Olopade assured that the pledge would be honoured.
“The NSC is working closely with the Minister of Works and Housing and the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative to ensure the houses are delivered in record time,” he said, adding that the welfare of athletes remains a top priority for the Commission.
His comments follow recent concerns raised by Super Falcons’ captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, who told journalists that the team was still awaiting the fulfilment of the promises made after their continental triumph.
