The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of officers caught on camera counting bundles of cash inside a patrol van in Asaba.
The video, which quickly went viral on social media, showed the officers handling the money in their parked vehicle, prompting public outrage and suspicions of extortion.
Police spokesperson Bright Edafe said on Tuesday that the officers were identified, tracked down, and brought before the Commissioner of Police shortly after the footage came to the Command’s attention.
“The policemen in the embarrassing video have been identified and arrested. They appeared before the CP today,” Edafe wrote in a post on .
According to him, two senior officers involved have been issued queries, while two inspectors are in custody pending an orderly room trial, the Force’s internal disciplinary process.
Edafe assured that appropriate sanctions will follow once investigations are concluded, stressing the Command’s commitment to accountability and discipline within its ranks.
