Covenant University has reinforced its strict disciplinary culture by banning mobile phones and personal cooking on campus for the 2025 academic year. The private Christian institution says the move is aimed at keeping students focused and ensuring a structured, distraction-free environment.

No Phones Allowed: Students cannot bring or own SIM-enabled devices, including smartphones. Non-SIM devices like laptops, tablets, and iPads are permitted.

Cooking Prohibited: Students must use campus cafeterias for meals, which offer a variety of cuisines daily. The ban promotes food safety, reduces fire risks, and maintains cleanliness.

Founded in 2002 by the Living Faith Church Worldwide in Ota, Ogun State, Covenant University is one of Nigeria’s top private Christian universities. Its motto, “Raising a New Generation of Leaders”, reflects its focus on academic excellence, innovation, and character development.

The university comprises four colleges: Business and Social Sciences, Leadership and Development Studies, Engineering, and Science and Technology.

The College of Engineering charges the highest fees, with students in Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, and Petroleum Engineering programmes paying ₦1,747,200 for the 2024/2025 session.
