Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, has faulted President Bola Tinubu’s decision to embark on a 10-day “working vacation” in Europe, insisting it signals weakness and underscores why he should not seek re-election.
The Presidency had earlier confirmed, through a statement signed by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, that Tinubu departed Abuja on September 4 for France and the United Kingdom, where he is expected to combine rest with official engagements as part of his 2025 annual leave.
Reacting in a post on X, Amadi argued that Tinubu’s penchant for extended rest abroad highlighted a lack of capacity to cope with the rigours of Nigeria’s top office.
“The president and his team continue to make a strong case why he should not be re-elected
He has no strength for the hard work required for that office now. He loves, and probably needs, a lot of rest,” Amadi wrote.
Tinubu is expected back in the country after his 10-day stay in Europe.
