The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning as veteran actor, Ibrahim Chatta, announced the death of his son.

The 54-year-old thespian shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram page on Saturday, posting a picture of the boy alongside the Islamic prayer, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”

Although Chatta did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death, the announcement has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and colleagues, who flooded his page with condolence messages.

The tragedy comes barely days after another Nollywood veteran, Peju Ogunmola, lost her only son, Ayomikun, in Ibadan. The twin bereavements have cast a dark cloud over the industry, leaving many in shock.

Chatta has previously spoken about his struggles with personal loss. In June, he recalled how he lost his first child, a daughter, due to financial hardship and inadequate medical care.

He revealed that he buried her in an old wooden Coca-Cola crate after failing to afford a coffin.
