Manchester United have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Turkish giants Trabzonspor to loan out goalkeeper Andre Onana, opening the door for the Cameroonian to leave Old Trafford just one year after his arrival.
Onana, 29, has yet to feature in United’s first three Premier League fixtures this season, with Turkish shot-stopper Altay Bayindir preferred between the sticks.
His absence follows a disrupted pre-season, where injury sidelined him for much of United’s preparations.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that United and Trabzonspor have struck terms on a season-long loan deal.
The decision now rests with Onana, who must choose between staying to fight for his place at Old Trafford or securing first-team minutes in Turkey.
The Red Devils recently bolstered their goalkeeping ranks with the £18.4m signing of Belgian keeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, further complicating Onana’s prospects of reclaiming the No. 1 shirt.
Despite previously vowing to stay and compete, the Cameroonian international may now opt for a switch, with the Turkish transfer window still open until September 12.
Trabzonspor, currently second in the Super Lig standings, are keen to reinforce their squad, though they will not feature in European competition this season.
Onana’s next move could be confirmed in the coming days as he weighs up his United future.
