2027: Tinubu Will Lose if Atiku, Jonathan Contest Separately — Ex-VP’s Aide

President Bola Tinubu could face a crushing defeat in the 2027 presidential election if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan contest on different party platforms, according to Demola Olarewaju, a senior political aide to Atiku.

Speaking on the Mic On podcast on Saturday, Olarewaju argued that Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) would lose its footing if both Jonathan and Atiku enter the race.

“If Goodluck Jonathan comes into the primaries and contests competitively — and he wins — we will all support him,” Olarewaju said.

When asked about a possible scenario where Jonathan runs under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku contests on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket, Olarewaju responded confidently:

“APC loses. The APC will have no base in 2027 if Jonathan runs on the PDP and Atiku or someone else runs in the ADC.”

However, the political aide admitted that the PDP has lost much of its former strength and nationwide appeal.

“The PDP is no longer the force it once was. It has become a mere vehicle to satisfy ethnic desires. While it may still hold ground in some states, it’s no longer fit for purpose at the national level,” he stated.

Olarewaju’s comments come amid growing political realignments and speculations over potential alliances ahead of the 2027 general election.
