US President Donald Trump has confirmed that hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs requested a presidential pardon after being convicted on prostitution-related charges.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Monday, October 6, Trump said,
“A lot of people have asked me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon.”

Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison on Friday, October 3, by U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian following his conviction in a federal sex-crimes case. Despite the sentence, Combs could be released in under three years due to credit for time already served at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he has been held since his September 2024 arrest.

Combs’ legal team, led by Teny Geragos, has indicated plans to appeal the sentence, arguing it was four times longer than requested and based on unproven allegations outside of the conviction. Geragos emphasized, “The jury made it very clear in their verdict that they acquitted him of the sex trafficking and the RICO counts. Not guilty means not guilty.”

Additionally, Combs has formally requested to serve his sentence at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison in New Jersey. His lawyers cited the availability of the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP), family visitation access, and other rehabilitative programs as reasons for the recommendation.

The saga of Sean “Diddy” Combs continues, as the music mogul now awaits the court’s decision on his appeal and the possibility of a presidential pardon.
