Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s sweeping education reforms, describing them as a lifeline for thousands of underprivileged Nigerian students.

Speaking at the Federal University of Lokoja, Kogi State, during a special public lecture titled “Empowering the Future Generation: The Founders’ Vision and Legacy”, Dogara praised the President for establishing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) — an initiative that, according to him, has already disbursed over ₦99.5 billion in interest-free loans to support tuition and upkeep for indigent students.

“Education remains our most powerful weapon against poverty, ignorance, and underdevelopment,” Dogara said. “President Tinubu’s policies are gradually dismantling barriers and promoting inclusivity, particularly for women and persons with disabilities.”

Dogara urged the institution’s graduands to “think globally but act locally,” stressing the need for innovation, ethical leadership, and Africa-led solutions to African problems.
