Shehu Sani Blasts Trump Over Nigeria’s ‘Country of Particular Concern’ Tag

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has faulted the decision of former U.S. President Donald Trump to designate Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” describing the claim as “outright falsehood and misinformation.”

Trump, in a statement on his Truth Social platform, alleged that Christianity was under “existential threat” in Nigeria and vowed that the United States would “save” Christians facing such “atrocities.”

Reacting via his X handle on Saturday, Sani dismissed the claim, saying that terrorists and bandits in Nigeria “kill and kidnap their victims irrespective of their religious beliefs.”

“The designation of Nigeria is founded on outright falsehoods and wholesale misinformation. The records of the last 15 years show that attacks are not based on religion,” Sani wrote.

He explained that Nigeria’s Muslim-Christian population ratio makes it “technically impossible for one faith to persecute another,” describing the country as a “Lion and Tiger situation, not a Lion and Zebra configuration.”

The outspoken lawmaker accused Trump of being misled by “anarchists and lackeys of neocolonialism” who thrive on creating division and unrest.

“This particular weapon raised against our country shall never prosper,” he declared.

Sani urged the international community to focus on supporting Nigeria’s anti-terrorism efforts rather than amplifying what he called “false narratives.”
