Gunmen K!!l Senior Zamfara APC Leader Umar Moriki on Gusau–Tsafe Highway

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Umar Moriki, has been sh*t dəad by gunmen suspected to be arm£d band!ts.

The politician was attacked early Saturday along the Gusau–Tsafe highway, near Fegi village in Tsafe Local Government Area, while travelling from Gusau to Kaduna.

The Zamfara State APC leadership, headed by Tukur Danfulani, confirmed the k!!ling, describing it as a devastating loss to the party and the state. In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, Moriki was said to have left Gusau shortly after attending an APC stakeholders’ meeting hosted by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

During his political career, Moriki held several senior positions, including Vice Chairman of Zurmi Local Government Area, Director-General of a state government agency, and Special Adviser on Rural Electrification. He was also a candidate for the Zurmi/Shinkafi Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 elections.

Moriki, aged 62, is survived by three wives and several children. The APC described him as a committed party figure and community leader who dedicated his life to public service and humanitarian work.
